Gloucestershire Second XI 2021 fixtures confirmed

The Gloucestershire Second XI fixtures have been published today.
2021 will see the team begin their campaign with a Second XI Championship match against Worcestershire on Monday 12 April which will be taking place at Kidderminster Cricket Club.
The Second XI will play at the Bristol County Ground for the first time in 2021 on Monday 19 April when they welcome Yorkshire for another Championship fixture.
Alongside home fixtures at the Bristol County Ground, we are delighted to confirm that Second XI matches will also be played at Rockhampton Cricket Club. Rockhampton has been a frequent venue for Gloucestershire Second XI games in recent years and in 2021, the Club is pleased to be playing numerous fixtures at the local cricket club.

Following the confirmation of the fixtures, Second XI Coach Owen Dawkins said:
“It’s great that Second XI fixtures are allowed again this season after the whole programme was cancelled in 2020. It’s an important area of the game, enabling players to push for first team selection through their performances.
I am delighted we have been able to continue to grow our partnership with Rockhampton Cricket Club, where we will be playing the majority of our Second XI matches in 2021. Lots of hard work has gone in to allowing Second XI matches to be played in a COVID safe environment and we’re excited to get going again.”
Red ball cricket
The Second XI Championship fixtures will be played over four days, a decision which was made for the 2020 season. Additionally, there is no longer a South and North group. The ECB setup three fixtures, with the counties responsible for setting up the remaining seven matches of the Second XI Championship.
T20 competition
This will run over a three-week block. The first two weeks of the competition will be in the lead-up to the 1st XI Vitality Blast matches. The third week will coincide with the start of the 1st XI T20 fixtures.
