Sunday 6th June - Fixtures Round Up

7 June 2021

A busy and productive half term week full of Cricket came to a close for our Boy’s County Age Group and Development sides yesterday. We had our U13s CAG, U13s Development and U12s Development teams all take part in some thrilling matches yesterday with some stand out performances. Really encouraging for the season ahead particularly against the standard of the opposition we were up against.

U13’s Development vs Wiltshire @ Hatherley & Reddings CC

Winning the toss and electing to field first, our U13’s Development side did fantastically well to restrict Wiltshire to 165 all out. In their first match of the season, all of our bowlers worked cohesively well together as a unit but in particular Dhilon Shanthakumar taking 3 wickets for 17 runs off 6 overs – well done Dhilon!

In reply, our batsman looked very settled at the crease with Akshat Krishna (59) hitting a well compiled half century and Neel Kulkarni getting us over the line without any trouble hitting 60 not out. A comprehensive 7 wicket win as they move onto their fixture. We would like to thank Wiltshire for giving our side a good game and Hatherley & Reddings CC for hosting us at their glorious ground.

U13’s CAG vs Somerset @ Thornbury CC

Our U13’s CAG side took on Somerset in their second fixture of the season, Somerset won the toss and elected to field first. Bertie Michael batted with confidence for a well made 40 however the rest of our batsman unfortunately struggled against a strong bowling attack. We were dismissed for 154, Harry Tegg provided some vital late order runs though making 25 not out.

When Somerset came to the crease, our bowlers did well to bowl tight lines and length to make scoring options hard for them – Jack Freebury bowling with great control taking 1 for 16 off 8 overs. However, Somerset dug deep to take the win by 7 wickets reaching the target in the 39th over. Some promising performances by our U13’s CAG team but plenty to work on going forward. Thanks again to Somerset for a quality fixture and for Thornbury CC being brilliant hosts.

U12’s Development vs Wiltshire @ Frocester CC

Our U12’s Development side got off to a winning start with a 28 run victory against Wiltshire. A low scoring affair and very closely competed from both sides throughout the match. Gloucestershire won the toss and elected to bat first with Mohsin Asif top scoring for us and Felix Haynes in the middle order holding our innings together. Wiltshire bowled superbly to dismiss us for 140 all out.

Defending a low total, our bowling attack were well up to the task with the likes of Rishi Ayyapan (2 for 19), Hugo Slade (2 for 20) and Ivo Thomas (3 for 11) all contributing to help us dismiss Wiltshire for 112. Credit to Wiltshire’s batsman who put up a great fight and showed their strength at the top order. Thank you to Frocester CC for hosting us as well, always a pleasure to play there.
