Klinger excited for International Debut

16 February 2017

Gloucestershire and Perth Scorchers run machine Michael Klinger still doesn’t know if he’ll make his Australia debut tomorrow in the T20 International against Sri Lanka but will be pumped if he gets the chance.

Klinger told reporters on Thursday morning that he hadn’t received official word yet. “I hope so.  I’m not sure yet.”  Klinger said:  "I’m assuming I’ll find out tonight.  Obviously it’ll be great to play tomorrow and if I do, I can’t wait.  It’s super exciting.  It’s going to be a great moment and hopefully I will get a chance to play."

Klinger and the Australian team face Sri Lanka at the Melbourne Cricket Ground where Michael grew up.  He added: “The way it’s worked out it’s back in my original home town in Melbourne.  A lot of family and friends will be around so it’s great.”

Michael also discussed his expectation for the three game series and the future:  "Hopefully I perform well in this three-game series and see what happens after that.  For now, I’m just going to really enjoy these three games and have a great time.”

Make sure to follow Gloucestershire's Michael Klinger and fast bowler Andrew Tye who will also be facing Sri Lanka in the three game series.

The match begins at 08:40 GMT at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Australia's other fixtures against Sri Lanka are on Sunday 19 February and Wednesday 22 February.
