    Glos v Warwickshire | Match preview

    Gloucestershire face Warwickshire in the Club’s final home match of the season, and the penultimate of the 2022 County Championship campaign.

    Last time out, The Shire's hopes of a first Division Once victory of the season were curtailed by the elements, with Day Four a wash-out after just 10.1 overs had been bowled.

    A first innings 159 from Marcus Harris, who has since returned to Victoria for the start of the Australian season, and fifties in both innings for Ben Charlesworth and Ollie Price had put The Shire in a position to win the game. However, final day rain quickly thwarted fans’ expectations.

    Glos outplayed Somerset across three days, Tom Price notching a second career five-wicket haul in the process.

    Warwickshire also faced Somerset in their most recent four-day fixture, drawing at Edgbaston after Somerset set the home side 364 runs to win on the final day.

    The Birmingham-based side boast India international Mohammed Siraj who joined on a short-term deal until the end of the 2022 season. Siraj took six wickets in the match against Somerset, and will be a good test for Gloucestershire’s youthful, but in-form top-order.

    12 points against Somerset did not lift Glos of the foot of the table, and nothing but the maximum 24 points against Warwickshire would confirm 10th position for Shire.

    Both Zafar Gohar (elbow) and Chris Dent (ankle) have recovered from their respective injuries and are back in the matchday squad for thre visit of Warwickshire. Dom Goodman also comes into the squad as Tom Lace and Paul van Meekeren drop out. 

    Miles Hammond requires 201 more runs from his final two matches to reach 1,000 Division One runs for the season while all-rounder Tom Price will be looking to build on his impressive form with the ball. The 22-year-old has taken 19 wickets in six matches at an average of 24.26.
