Academy Player Highlights - June Round Up

29 June 2021

With the Vitality T20 Blast just around the corner at the start of June, Gloucestershire Second XI schedule was packed with T20 fixtures with a lot of players looking to get their eye in for the change of format. This gave several of our Academy Players a chance to impress alongside regular First XI players who were looking for invaluable match practice.

Gloucestershire 2xi vs Somerset – 3rd June

Will Naish and Max Trotman featured in a 5 wicket win for Second XI against Somerset at Rockhampton CC.

Will Naish taking an important wicket to contribute to dismissing Somerset who were all out for 108 and he was prompted to open the innings with bat. Facing the likes of the experienced of Max Waller, Naish, made 17 before trying to go for one hit too many being caught on the boundary.

Warwickshire vs Gloucestershire 2xi – 9th June

Gloucestershire travelled to Edgbaston Community Sports Ground to face Warwickshire in T20 who were led by England International Chris Woakes. Max Trotman & Will Naish got the opportunity to open the innings and face Woakes, Trotman in particular looking in fine form at the crease hitting him for a couple of boundaries.

Oliver Meadows & Praneel Choughule had the chance to provide some well needed runs at the back end of the innings – Praneel hitting 25 runs off 19 balls. Alex Russell also featuring, bowling 2 overs.
