Second XI T20 - 15 June 2021

Gloucestershire 2nd XI won by 122 runs

Venue: Rockhampton CC

Gloucestershire v Glamorgan

Gloucestershire Second XI returned home to host Glamorgan at Rockhampton CC. The home side looking to seek revenge after an unfortunate loss to the away side the day before. Looking to gain some T20 form for the First XI, Glenn Phillips and James Bracey were brought into the side to bolster the side. Gloucestershire skipper Tom Lace won the toss and elected to bat first.

Tom Lace and George Scott opened the innings who were back in the hutch early looking to accelerate the innings. This brought to the crease Ian Cockbain (31) and Glenn Phillips (52) who formed a brutal partnership of 71 and took apart the Glamorgan attack. Glenn Phillips showed his brilliance with 5 sixes, taking only 30 balls to reach his half century. James Bracey returning from his England duties, also impressed hitting a quick fire 36 runs off 19 balls striking 1 four and 4 sixes. Ollie Price continued his fine form, finishing not out off 27 runs 14 balls to help Gloucestershire reach 190 for 5 off 20 overs.

In reply, Lace opted to open with the combination of spin and pace with Phillips and Taylor which proved successful with Phillips dismissing opener Billy Root cheaply. Dominic Goodman coming on first change, bowled with threatening pace as he had Glamorgan’s skipper Tom Cullen caught behind as the away side collapsed 27 for 4. Glamorgan’s batsman tried to rebuild; however George Scott bowled a terrific spell by taking 4 wickets for 7 runs including an excellent stumping by Bracey. Gloucestershire comprehensively took the win by 122 runs as Glamorgan were all out for 68 runs in 12 overs.
