Second XI T20 - 14 June 2021

Glamorgan 2nd XI won by 3 wickets

Venue: Newport Cricket Club

Glamorgan v Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire Second XI T20 campaign continued in the Central Group with an away fixture to Glamorgan at Newport CC. Gloucestershire were led by Tom Lace who won the toss and elected to bat first.

Lace and fellow opener Ollie Price looked to be firing from all cylinders, with Lace racing to 14 before being dismissed in the fourth over. Price continued his clean striking, compiling 46 runs off 37 balls with 6 boundaries as wickets unfortunately tumbled around him. Ben Wells looked to be the key for the Gloucestershire innings and a key partner with Price to enable the away side to post a decent total. Wells smashed 3 boundaries until he was dismissed for 20 off 18 balls, and at this point Glamorgan took advantage of the exposed late order with B Morris taking 4 wickets for 20 runs in his 3 overs. Gloucestershire reaching 129 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Dom Goodman struck in the second over to give Gloucestershire a promising start and restricted Glamorgan’s scoring options early. Ollie Price then came onto to bowl and looked to flip the game on its head, bowling a terrific spell of 4 for 25 as Gloucestershire looked to push for victory. However, Glamorgan’s R Walker couldn’t be beaten making 37 not out including 3 sixes to seal the win for the home side by 3 wickets.

Gloucestershire host Glamorgan at Rockhampton CC on the 15th June in their next T20 fixture.
