U12s Boys County Age Group - 2023 Season Review & Award Winners
23 October 2023
This proved to be a successful season for a good young bunch of talented cricketers. Their team spirit, attitude and work rate and were factors throughout as they played an aggressive brand of cricket against the majority of their opponents.
The positive way in, which the side played was a highlight of their performances in the Taunton Festival success, where they won all 5 matches, posting over 200 runs on all 5 occasions batting first and topping over 250 runs in four of those matches.
Throughout the season there, were vital contributions from a number of players as the side were competitive in games with bat, ball and in the field. Their positive approach to playing games was a sign of how much they put into practice what they had worked on during the winter training programme.
Coaches Gareth Dawson and Neil Higginson said it was a pleasure to work with this group, and a big thank you must go to the players and parents for their support during the season.
Performance of the Year
This award goes to a batter who scored a hundred on the Wednesday at the Taunton Festival against Cumbria. The knock was all the more impressive considering he had been struck a nasty blow on the finger before he had reached 50. Thus, resulting in spending an amount of time in A&E that evening. The U12s Boys performance of the year goes to Charlie Parsons.
Player of the Year
This goes to a player whose ability, attitude and work rate, not only stood out in the season but throughout the winter programme. In games he contributed with bat and ball, his fielding was exceptional at times. He also captained the side during some games. The U12s player of the year goes to Luca Benyon.
