U12s Boys County Age Group - 2022 Season Review & Award Winners
11 October 2022
This proved to be a tough season and a steep learning curve for the group who found consistency slightly hard to come by throughout the season. Further down the line of the Summer, the side started to play more positively and become more competitive as several individuals started to find their feet with both bat and ball.
This was clear in their performances at the Taunton Festival where the side produced their best cricket of the season in the searing heat! The side did superbly well to finish second and were unfortunate not to come top but unfortunately couldn’t quite hold on to a few chances when against Devon and American touring side Atlanta.
All in all, it was a season which they can learn a lot from however they were some positive performances with the bat from Finley Sherred Isles, Hugo Bush, Archie Jackson and Ansh Patel. With the ball, the side saw some great support from Will Downham and Sam Beardsmore.
U12s Coach Gareth Dawson said he would like to say a big thank you to all the lad’s efforts this year and the parents for supporting and ferrying the players around during the winter and a very packed second half of the season!
Performance of the Year
As the season went on this player continued to show improvements with the bat. He batted particularly positively at the Taunton festival where he had threatened to get a half century. Eventually he reached this milestone in his last county game of the season against Worcestershire where he scored a fluent 75 opening the batting as the side just failed to chase down the oppositions score. The U12s Boys Performance of the year was awarded to Ansh Patel.
Player of the Year
For his hard batting throughout the season where he scored 3 half centuries, with a highest score of 88 against Atlanta following a bout of chicken pox. This player shows great potential with the bat and was the most consistent batter in the age group. The U12s Boys player of the year was awarded to Hugo Bush.
