U11s Boys County Age Group - 2022 Season Review & Award Winners

A season which witnessed some notable performances and undoubted player progression throughout the season. 18 players had the opportunity to represent the age group in 2022. Four batsmen each accumulated over 200 runs, four bowlers each took over 10 wickets.
From disappointing early loss to Warwickshire, and a closely fought encounter with Middlesex that ended up tied! The under 11s soon picked up their winning ways. Culminating in their success of winning the Taunton Festival. The under 11 squad have grown in confidence and shown potential to achieve success at an individual and squad level. Despite the majority of season being in played what felt like 90 degrees of heat, their energy and enthusiasm was never in doubt and was masterfully managed and directed by captains Charlie Snow, Luca Benyon and Jonty Grindal.
Special mention to Ethan Du Preez for an amazing 238 not out in a record breaking second wicket partnership with Rupert Spooner of 227 in the under 11’s final County Development match vs Wales East.
Performance of the Year
This young cricketer demonstrated the leaderships skills, enthusiasm and determination to score a memorable 100 against the enemy in Somerset as the U11s ran out winners by 113 runs. His ability to bat for long periods of time – 107 out of a total of 230 in 35 overs at a tick over a run a ball was tremendous to see. Player of the Year
This young cricketer starting his 2022 journey in the Gloucestershire under 11’s zonal squad. Following a quick trial up at Hartpury he soon became an important part of the County Age Group Squad. Returning the highest number of wickets taken this season at a bowling average of 11.86. He has impressed us all with his; Consistency, growth, confidence, energy, and enthusiasm. Attributes which might just create a formidable individual. This years U11s Player of the Year was awarded to Mason Salvage
