Rain Helps Secure Draw At Canterbury
24 August 2013
Gloucestershire took five points from a drawn LV=County Championship match with Kent after rain washed out the final day without a ball bowled.
The home side were left frustrated as they needed only one wicket to claim victory, while their opponents required a further 92 runs.
Kent paid for failing to take that last wicket after claiming the extra half hour on day three and took seven points from the draw.
The heroes for Gloucestershire were Gareth Roderick, whose unbeaten 152 prolonged the third day, and last man Liam Norwell, who survived for 12 balls as his partner.
While Michael Klinger's men needed a win to put the pressure on Second Division front-runners Lancashire and Northamptonshire, they were happy to see the rain which forced the umpires to abandon any prospect of play in mid-afternoon.
