McCarter to leave Gloucestershire
22 September 2014
Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has announced that seamer Graeme McCarter will be leaving the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
Graeme, 21, signed a full-time summer contract in November 2010, which culminated in a professional contract for the 2012 season.
He had joined the club’s Academy programme in the winter of 2008 and has represented Ireland at Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 levels. He is currently away with the senior Ireland squad.
The 2012 season saw him make his County Championship debut and play in two 40-over games, taking 3-41 against Middlesex at Lord’s and 3-15 against Leicestershire at Bristol.
He added five more Championship appearances in 2013 plus five in the YB40 and this summer was selected for two Championship fixtures and 13 games in the NatWest T20 Blast.
Gloucestershire Director of Cricket John Bracewell said: "It is a shame that Graeme was unable to sustain the development he showed as an academy graduate. Graeme has been great to have around the squad and was always willing to work for the team. We wish him well for the future and hope to see him win a place in Ireland's squad for the 2015 World Cup."
