U12s Boys County Age Group - Season Review & Award Winners

6 October 2021

The Under 12 Boys proved to have a successful season thanks to a great bunch of young and talented cricketers. Their team spirit, attitude, work rate and determination were factors throughout as they played an aggressive brand of cricket against all opponents, which resulted in 11 wins out of 12.

Across the season there were no fewer than 10 instances of a batsmen making a half century and a couple where a bowler picked up 5 wickets in a match.

U12s Coach Gareth Dawson said that this only tells part of the story, as there were vital other contributions from players in situations where they had to increase run rates and spells of bowling from players that stemmed run rates and brought about a flurry of wickets.

Throughout the season there fielding was also a real asset, culminating in a fine display in a crushing victory vs Somerset. A fantastic effort to all U12 Players and well done to all that were involved!

Performance of the Year

This award went to a batsmen whose ability to score boundaries and run aggressively between the wickets were a feature of an unbeaten 88 not out in 64 balls against Devon. The U12s Boys Performance of the year was awarded to Noah Bennett.

Player of the Year

This player was awarded the U12s Boys Player of the Year award for scoring two fifties in way over a run a ball vs Devon and Oxford to give the innings real momentum. His keeping improved with every game he played. An individual with a great attitude who constantly plays with a smile on his face. He was also the youngest member of the squad - Will Sweeting.
