Gloucestershire won by 5 runs

Venue: Cropedy CC

Oxfordshire vs Gloucestershire U11's County Age Group (Friendly)

Our U11’s County Age Group side travelled to Cropedy CC in Banbury to take on Oxfordshire’s U11’s County Age Group team.  Skipper Finley Sherred-Isles won the toss and elected for the away side to bat first.

Leading from the front, Finley showed real resistance at the top of the order as he stood firm scoring 21 runs off 50 balls to anchor the innings for Gloucestershire. This innings proved to be vital as we struggled to build any partnerships as Oxfordshire dominated with the ball. Harry Bewes taking 3 for 10 for the home side as we were dismissed for 89.

In reply, Gloucestershire’s bowlers knew they had quite the task at hand to defend the total. Hugo Bush bowled fantastically at their top order, taking 3 quick wickets in his 5 overs for a mere 12 runs. He was incredibly supported by William Downham (2 for 14) and Freddie Derouet (3 for 9) who bowled with great accuracy to build pressure on Oxfordshire batsmen. Neck and neck until the very end, Gloucestershire’s Ansh Patel took the final wicket of the innings secure a dramatic win by 5 runs.

A low scoring but extremely competitive match, and we would like to thank Oxfordshire for hosting us. The U11’s County Age Group side next play Dorset on Sunday 4th July.
