Gloucestershire win by 95 runs

Venue: Millfield School

Millfield School vs Gloucestershire U18's (Friendly)

Gloucestershire U18’s fought back brilliantly against Millfield School with an impressive 95 run win against their Meyer’s XI.

Gloucestershire won the toss and elected to bat, looking to build on their previously strong performances with the bat. We initially started the innings with great intent, with Wicket-Keeper Batsman Max Trotman and Tommy Boorman hitting a flurry of boundaries. However, Millfield bowler L Pearson-Taylor (3 for 15) had other ideas removing our top to middle order in quick succession with a hat-trick, moving the score from 40 without loss and to 40 for 3.

The ever-reliable Trotman (59) continuing from his century last weekend looked in great touch putting together a well-constructed half century and looked very settled until his was unfortunately ran out. He was well supported by George Driver-Dickerson (24*), however, it was a little too late as our tail could only wag to 158 all out with K Khanna (4 for 27) doing to rest of the damage for the home side.

With our backs against the wall protecting a small target, our opening bowlers Will Naish (4 for 20) and Stanley Brown (3 for 28) stepped up to the task both making inroads in their first overs of the innings. The pair both bowled with great character and dominance throughout with Millfield struggling to negate their pace as they were all out for 63 inside 17 overs. Oliver Wood (1 for 7) & Max Shepherd (1 for 8) also contributing to a superb bowling performance.

We would like to thank Millfield for hosting us at their fantastic facilities as it is always a great privilege for our players. Our next fixture is for our U18’s Development side, who take on Somerset at Bedminster CC on the 9th May.
