Gloucestershire won by 14 runs

Venue: Dolman's Farm, Ferndown Wayfarers CC

Dorset vs Gloucestershire U11's County Age Group (Friendly)

Gloucestershire U11’s made the trip down to Dolman’s Farm to face Dorset on a blustery and rainy day.

Defying the odds with all of our other fixtures unfortunately abandoned due to the weather, we managed to fulfil a 30 over match with Dorset and would like to thank the away side for keeping the fixture on. Dorset won the toss and elected to bowl first to take advantage of the overhead conditions at Ferndown Wayfarers CC.

Herbie Ahearne playing a captain’s knock at number 3, hit a quick fire 44 off 35 balls to accelerate the innings at pace. Taking on the bowlers confidently, he hit 6 fours with brilliant support from Ansh Patel and Hugo Bush. Hugo Bush in particular looked at ease for a patient 30 runs off 45 balls to let Gloucestershire post a competitive of 137 for 7. Special mention to Dorset bowler Lucas Bradford taking 3 for 17 off 6 overs and bowled great lines to help stem the flow of runs for the home side.

Dorset in reply built solid foundations with Jonty McCarter (24) and Lucas Lane (34) looking untroubled at the crease as Gloucestershire struggled to make any initial breakthrough. Captain Herbie Ahearne producing a great piece of work to run out Lane which meant Gloucestershire really squeezed in the final overs as Dorset reached 123 for 4 in their 30 overs, with the away side taking victory by 14 runs.

A massive thank you to Dorset for hosting us considering the conditions and for a competitive match, we wish them well for the season ahead.
