Cricket Wales vs Gloucestershire U14's County Age Group (2 Day Friendly)

Our U14s County Age Group had an exciting opportunity to play a 2-day fixture against Cricket Wales. It was a brilliant chance for our players to test themselves in the longer format which many hadn’t experienced before. Gloucestershire skipper Henry Snow won the toss and elected to field first.

Anir Sanat bowled superbly in the first innings, taking 4 wickets for 31 runs in 14.2 overs. He was supported well by Joe Tutty who chipped in with 3 wickets for 40 runs in 14 overs. All of bowlers looked in great control, bowling very economically and accurately as Cricket Wales scored 194 in their first dig. Patient knocks from Hope-Bell (42) and Aplin (43) helped Cricket Wales contribute to the total.

Gloucestershire in reply batted well at the top of the order, opener Zain Syed (59) hit a scintillating half century. He shared an important partnership with Bobby Britto (70) who held the innings together to help match Cricket Wales score hitting 200 for 9 before declaring. A special mention to Cricket Wales bowler Hope-Bell who claimed 4 wickets for 19 runs.

Cricket Wales looking to up the rate, did so – with well made contributions from their top order as they looked to post a challenging lead to set up the match for the result. Joe Tutty again in the action, taking a fantastic 5 wickets for 24 runs to help restrict Cricket Wales to 154 all out. This left Gloucestershire 30 overs to bat the overs for the draw or chase 160 for victory.

Opener Jamie Brooks set the intent early, scoring a quick 45 runs to start off proceedings including 5 x 4s. However, wickets continued to fall as we were reduced to 98 for 6. Anir Sanat continued with the rate as he hit a run a ball 33 which got Gloucestershire close to the target, however, Anir was run out which left us to grind out the draw in a well fought match.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Cricket Wales for a brilliant fixture and for Ebbw Vale CC for hosting us at their beautiful facility.
