A prolific batsman in his native Australia,  Michael has continued his run-scoring exploits throughout his seasons with Gloucestershire.

In 2015 he made over 1600 runs  and was named PCA (Professional Cricketers Association) Player of the Year in both the T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup after finishing as topscorer in both competitions. He then went on to become the highest run scorer in the T20 Blast in 2016 with 548 runs at an average of 49.81.

He originally joined Gloucestershire as club captain in December 2012 - succeeding Alex Gidman  - and has returned every year, initially as captain across all formats and last season as skipper in one-day and T20.

Michael began his career in Australia with Victoria but after a spell with South Australia, he now plays for Western Australia (WA) and the Perth Scorchers.
