FEARSOME SOUTH AFRICAN PACEMAN

Gloucestershire’s marquee signing before the 2023 season, Marchant de Lange brings express pace to an already varied Shire bowling attack.

De Lange signed a three-year deal with Gloucestershire that will take him close to a decade of experience in county cricket following spells at Glamorgan and Somerset.

Explosive across all formats, de Lange has had a successful career across the world with his 90mph+ deliveries.

Making his test debut in South Africa’s Boxing Day test versus Sri Lanka, de Lange took 7/81 in the first innings making him the 21st man to take a five-for on debut for the Proteas. These figures included the prize wickets of Kumar Sangakarra and Angelo Mathews in an impressive display by the debutant.

A total of 26 international wickets for de Lange led to selection in franchise teams around the world. Stints in the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians preceded spells in the Caribbean, South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

In English domestic cricket, de Lange has 57 wickets in the T20 Vitality Blast at 21.91 apiece including 18 wickets for Glamorgan as they reached their first finals day in 13 years in 2017.

90 First-class wickets and 40 List A wickets across five seasons for Glamorgan and Somerset are also evidence of the former South African international’s pedigree in all formats.

The Gloucestershire faithful will look to de Lange for leadership as they chase promotion back to Division One in 2023.
