Young Report Delights Bracewell

4 January 2012

Gloucestershire have received a glowing report on Ed Young's progress from the Darren Lehmann Academy in Australia.

The all-rounder is spending the winter in Perth where his form and fitness levels have earned high praise.

Gloucestershire Director of Cricket John Bracewell told this website: "We have just received a report from the Academy. Ed has impressed with his skills and fitness, but above all with his work ethic, which is very pleasing.

"The fitness side has involved things like going round an SAS commando type course so it is pretty tough and we are pleased that Ed is taking part in a strong grade of cricket.

"We have already sent Ian Saxelby, Jack Taylor and Liam Norwell to the same Academy in previous years with good results and it is proving a very valuable association, which we hope to continue in future."

JB confirmed that Gloucestershire hope to announce a new signing in the very near future, but stressed that his playing budget for next season could not be finalised until the club know the outcome of their plans to develop the County Ground.

This should be decided at a meeting of Bristol City Council's Planning Committee next Wednesday.
