Will Gidman Signs Contract Extension
2 March 2012
Will Gidman has signed a two-year extension to his contract following a hugely successful first season with Gloucestershire.
Will capped his first summer with the club by winning the Player-of-the-Year award, having completed the rare all-rounder’s double of 1,000 runs and 50 wickets in the LV= County Championship.
His previous contract was due to expire at the end of the 2012 season, but the new agreement ties him to the club until the end of the 2014 campaign.
Will said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my first season with Gloucestershire and I am excited at the prospect of being part of a young improving side over the next three summers.”
Gloucestershire Director of Cricket, John Bracewell, added: “This is another good news story. In his debut season for GCCC and in first class cricket, Will was no doubt the outstanding performer in both divisions of the LV= County Championship.
“We are delighted to have secured his long-term future at the Club. Genuine all-rounders are a rare breed, especially ones capable of performing in all formats of the game.”
Club Captain, Alex Gidman, said: “All captains want a high quality all-rounder in their teams. It’s fun having my brother in the side, but more importantly Will has quickly become a key figure in our line-up with both bat and ball.”
