Will Back To Take On Kent

14 August 2012

Will Gidman's long battle against a side injury is set to end with a return to to Gloucestershire's team for the LV=County Championship match with Kent at Bristol, starting on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old all-rounder, whose spectacular first season at the club last summer saw him do the double of 1,000 first class runs and 50 wickets, has not played for the first team since early June.

But he returned to action for the second XI recently with no ill effects and has been named in a squad of 12 to face Kent.

James Fuller is also available after a less serious side injury and that is just as well as Gloucestershire finished the Championship game with Hampshire last week with three of the seamers involved under treatment.

Paul Muchall suffered a back problem bowling in the first innings, while Ian Saxelby has been carrying a knee problem and David Payne sustained a bruised heel.

Payne is in the squad to face Kent, but Saxelby and Muchall are out, which could mean a chance for Craig Miles now that he is free of educational commitments this summer.

Jonathan Batty is recalled behind the stumps in place of Richard Coughtrie.
