29 March 2018

Gloucestershire Cricket is delighted to announce that 2017 batsman of the year Jack Taylor has been awarded the vice-captaincy of the Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup side for the 2018 season.

Speaking on his appointment, Jack said: " I am delighted and honoured to be asked to be vice-captain under Chris Dent. I will offer him my full support when needed and look forward to building something special and help take this team onwards and upwards. I’m looking forward to the exciting times ahead."

Head Coach Richard Dawson said: “Jack Taylor has shown the qualities of a leader over the past few seasons and will work well alongside Chris in the 4-day and 50 over competitions.”

Taylor will be looking to continue where he left off last season with the bat. Jack averaged 41.00 in first class cricket, with an impressive strike rate of 69.63. He also featured in the first team more than any other Gloucestershire player, showcasing his worth and importance to the squad.

You can watch Jack and the Gloucestershire team in action on Sunday when we face Cardiff MCCU in a 3 day match at the Brightside Ground, Bristol. The match starts at 11:00am. Admission to the ground is FREE.
