Stafanie to create a Storm again

One of the biggest names in the women’s game will return to play for Western Storm this season.

West Indies Captain, Stafanie Taylor joins Heather Knight, Anya Shrubsole, Fran Wilson and Rachel Priest in putting pen to paper on new deals for the current Kia Super League champions.

The 26-year-old was the leading run scorer and the leading wicket taker in the inaugural KSL in 2016 and she played a major role in the Storm lifting the trophy one year later.

Since making her international debut in 2008, Stafanie has featured in 84 T20 matches for the West Indies, scoring over 2500 runs at an average of over 37 with a top score of 90. She has also featured in 111 ODIs scoring over 4200 runs at an average of 44.06 with a high score of 171.

After signing her new contract Stafanie said: “What we achieved last year was very special and there was never really any doubt that I would come back to the Storm. We had a great group and I’m sure it will be the same this season. The supporters have been great over the last two years and hopefully we can win again for them.”

Western Storm Head Coach, Trevor Griffin is delighted that Stafanie will be playing for the Storm in 2018. “When you talk about women’s cricket there aren’t many bigger names than Stafanie Taylor,” he said. “She has performed time and again on the world stage and she has what it takes to win trophies. She can destroy an attack with her batting and her bowling will also be a more than useful weapon for us. I’m really pleased with how the squad is shaping up again this year.”
