Impressive Sri Lanka & Memorable atmosphere - Best images from 2011

21 June 2016

With the England v Sri Lanka Royal London One-Day International taking place this Sunday (Click here to purchase tickets) we take a look back at some of the best images from a colourful day in 2011 when the two sides last faced each other in Bristol.

The fixture was the first time Stuart Broad was put in charge of the England side and despite a sell-out crowd and a memorable atmosphere, England were outplayed by an experienced Sri Lanka T20 team.

Put into bat, England lost two early wickets but raced to 95-2 with Kevin Pietersen and Eoin Morgan in top form.

But England stuttered to 136-9 as Lasith Malinga and Sanath Jayasuriya took two wickets each.

Mahela Jayawardene (72) and Kumar Sangakkara (43) then pounded the England bowlers as the tourists cruised home.

Sri Lanka 137-1 (17.2 overs) beat England 136-9 (20 overs) by nine wickets.

Despite the defeat for England, it was certainly a memorable day for both sets of supporters.
