Second XI win T20 double header at Chelmsford

It was a good start to the week for Gloucestershire Cricket Second XI as they secured a double header T20 win over Essex at Chelmsford.
The Gloucestershire Cricket coaching staff selected a strong team to face Essex which included Gareth Roderick & David Payne

Match one
Gareth Roderick (38), Chris Dent (44) and Kieran Noema-Barnett (41 not out) were top scorers for Gloucestershire in opening match of the day.
Captained by Gareth Roderick, who opened the batting with Chris Dent, Gloucestershire went on to hit 170 for 7.
It was an impressive performance from the bowlers who quickly got to work on the Essex batsmen.
Wickets were shared amongst the bowlers with Liddle & Howell both taking two wickets each, whilst Payne, Miles, Dent and Jack Taylor & Matt Taylor all took one each.
The run chase from the home side was ended early as Essex were bowled out for 107 off 18.4 overs.
Result - Gloucestershire won by 70 runs

Match two
Essex again won the toss and elected to bat, but it was the Gloucestershire bowlers who started on the front foot and began to take early wickets.
The home side were down four wickets by the time they reached 50 runs, but went on to end their innings 128 for 8.
There was a change in the batting order from the opening match for Gloucestershire, with Hankins (30) & Howell (20) given the opportunity to begin the run chase.
Following the dismissal of Hankins, it was Cockbain who went on to secure the win for Gloucestershire.
It was an impressive batting performance from the 30-year old, who hit 61 not out, off just 22 balls. which included 9 fours and 3 sixes.
