Teams announced for pre-season double-header v Worcestershire (March 25-27)
20 March 2015
The entire first team squad will get a run-out this week as Gloucestershire take on Worcestershire in a double-header at New Road.
Offspinner Miles Hammond and allrounder Benny Howell – who has recently returned from a winter playing club cricket in Melbourne – will make their first appearances of pre-season in a one-day game on March 25.
Wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick will also take the field for the first time in the two-day match on March 27 and 28 after overcoming a hand injury.
Ian Cockbain will captain the team for both games and head coach Richard Dawson said the fixtures would provide another platform for players to compete for first team places following on from the draw and win against Glamorgan last week.
He said: “Last week was the starting point and we are now looking for the players to improve on those performances, both as a group and as individuals over the next two weeks.
“We are using the whole squad so we are giving all the players an opportunity to stake a claim for a starting place. Some players may need more game time than others so we are also selecting sides with that in mind.”
