For the last three years, Avon & Somerset, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire Police have been using The Brightside Ground, Bristol as a training facility for their Police Dogs.

The Police use the Bristol Pavilion as one of the venues as part of their training routine to familiarise and teach the dogs on real life situations and circumstances.

In total they bring 5 Police Dogs along on site for each training day. The training is used for Counter Terrorism Searching, The aim of the day is to put the dogs & handlers into realistic high profile venues to train the dogs.

Speaking on using The Brightside Ground as one of their venues, Ian Partington, Police Dog Training Manager at Avon & Somerset, Goucestershire & Wiltshire Police said:

"Venues like the Brightside Ground and The Bristol Pavilion are ideal for training the dogs to search and find as the location and buildings puts them into a realistic environment.

At the same time an important role with these training days is to continue to build the relationship between the venues and the police. We always like coming to the Ground as there is always something different going on a day to day basis which helps with training the dogs."
