Payne Heads For Lehmann Academy
2 October 2013
David Payne is to spend the winter at the Darren Lehmann Academy in South Australia and is one of several Gloucestershire players going abroad.
Chris Dent and Benny Howell are also off to Australia, while Dan Housego is bound for Zimbabwe and James Fuller is returning to New Zealand where he spent last winter.
Director of Cricket John Bracewell told this website: “We have seen players progress through involvement with the Darren Lehmann Academy in the past and hope the same will apply with David Payne.
“His time there has come about through funding from the England and Wales Cricket Board and we are delighted that he has such a great opportunity to work on his skills and gain experience of a different environment.
“Chris Dent is going to play A Grade club cricket in Melbourne, which is good for his development, and Benny Howell will also be over there.
“Dan Housego is off to Zimbabwe to play in their Twenty20 and first class competitions, while James Fuller has been signed by Auckland as the overseas bowler for their T20 tournament.”
