Team news

Dale Benkenstein selects a fourteen-player squad for the Derbyshire clash with new signing Harry Tector slotting straight into the matchday squad. Young gun Joe Phillips also makes the cut having impressed during his first two first-class appearances for Gloucestershire at Cheltenham. In only his second appearance for Shire, Phillips scored a well-made 80 vs Worcestershire in what was a standout performance.

Ajeet Singh Dale and Ben Charlesworth make the squad as does Zaman Akhter and the ever-present Ollie Price.

Skipper Graeme van Buuren miss out as he continues with his recovery from injury while Tom Price is rested. Miles Hammond and David Payne are unavailable for selection due to their involvement in The Hundred.

Long-term absentee Marchant de Lange also misses out.

Your 14-player Gloucestershire squad to face Derbyshire:

Zaman Akhter, James Bracey, Ben Charlesworth, Chris Dent, Zafar Gohar, Paul van Meekeren, Joe Phillips, Ollie Price, Josh Shaw, Tom Smith, Jack Taylor, Harry Tector, Ben Wells.

Last time out

Gloucestershire were once again rained off only 13 overs into their NCCA showcase match against Wiltshire at Cheltenham College on Sunday. Shire reduced the visitors to 57/4 before rain curtailed the rest of the day's play.

In last year's One Day Cup competition, Gloucestershire found themselves unlucky not to have qualified for the knock-out stages of the competition having won five from eight matches.

Our opponents

Derbyshire defeated Lincolnshire by six wickets in a One Day Cup warm-up match on Sunday. Harry Came scored an unbeaten 125 as Derbyshire convincingly beat the National Counties side.

In last year's competition the East Midlands outfit won only three of their eight 50-over matches and missed out on the knockout stages.

In the 2023 County Championship, Derbyshire sit just one point better off than Gloucestershire but are yet to win a four-day game this season.
