Match preview: Sussex Sharks v Gloucestershire | T20 Vitality Blast

10 June 2022

Gloucestershire continue their T20 Vitality Blast campaign this evening with a trip to The 1st Central County Ground to take on Sussex Sharks.

Glos will be looking to bounce back after falling to a three wicket (DLS Method) defeat to Somerset yesterday evening. Despite the loss Dale Benkenstein's side climbed a place in the South Group and now sit in third position after seven games.

The Shire find themselves one point ahead of tonight's hosts who themselves have won three and lost four of their seven games in the South Group.

In their last T20 fixture, Sussex were defeated by seven wickets at the hands of high flying Surrey at the Oval with Fynn Hudson-Prentice top scoring with 49* in the Sharks total of 146/7.

Surrey’s chase started well with openers Jason Roy and Will Jacks scoring half-centuries in an opening stand of 110. The Sharks bowling attack started a fight back when they took three wickets in six balls, but that was as good as it got for the bowlers as Surrey cruised to victory with the loss of no further wickets.

Watch the highlights from the win over Sussex Sharks.

Glos ran out comfortable winners when the two teams met at the Seat Unique Stadium just over two weeks ago. James Bracey was the star with the bat for Glos as he hit a fantastic 70 off 45 balls as the Shire amassed 193-7 from their 20 overs. In reply the Sharks fell short by 41 runs with Mohammad Rizwan top scoring with 58 at the top of the order. David Payne was the pick of the Glos bowlers picking up three wickets for just 22 runs from his four overs.

Gloucestershire’s 14-man squad to face Sussex:

Gloucestershire have kept the same squad that was named to face Somerset at the Seat Unique Stadium with Graeme van Buuren, Ben Charlesworth and Paul van Meekeren missing due to injury. Naseem Shah is also unavailable due to returning home to Pakistan for a family emergency.

The game will be showed live on SKY Sports with the first ball being bowled at 7pm. There will be no live stream available, but you can follow the action on Twitter and Facebook with the toss and team news at around 6:30pm.
