Leg spinner Ed Middleton signs one-year contract extension with Gloucestershire
15 December 2023
Leg-spinning all-rounder Ed Middleton has signed a one-year contract extension with the Club through to October 2024.
Middleton made his first-class debut for the Shire against Derbyshire in September, taking 1-59 from 19 overs in the opposition first innings. His 39 not out helped secure a draw for Shire on day four as he shared a 77-run unbeaten stand with skipper Graeme van Buuren in Bristol.
The 22-year-old initially joined the Club in May 2023 after a string of impressive performances for Gloucestershire’s Second XI.
Speaking about his new deal, Middleton said:
“It’s great to extend my time with the club. There were some exciting moments last summer from playing New Zealand to making my first-class debut. I also loved being around the squad for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup as that was a real positive last season.
“We've got through a good block of winter training and the squad is developing nicely. The staff have been very proactive in the last few months as we’ve been looking at our psychological processes, cricket skills and strength and conditioning.
“I look forward to next summer on and off the field with the Glorious Glosters!”
