Kane Named In New Zealand Tour Squad
3 May 2012
Kane Williamson has been named in the New Zealand squad for the tour of West Indies, starting on June 30.
The Kiwis have named three separate squads for Test, Twenty20 and One-Day Internationals and the Gloucestershire batsman is in all of them.
Kane’s selection is not unexpected after a successful winter, which included a Test century against South Africa and progress in all forms of the game.
He said when arriving for his second spell with Gloucestershire that he only expected to be available until shortly after the start of the Friends Life t20 competition.
That begins for Gloucestershire with an exciting home game against arch-rivals Somerset on June 14. The club expect Kane to still be available for selection then.
Former Gloucestershire all-rounder James Franklin has been omitted from the New Zealand tour and will play for Essex in the Friends Life t20 this season.
