1 August 2013
Will Tavare has hit his third Second XI Championship century of the season for Gloucestershire in the drawn match with Northants at Milton Keynes.
The 23-year-old nephew of former Kent, Somerset and England batsman Chris Tavare made 101 not out before his side declared their first innings on 240-5.
That was in reply to a Northants score of 319-4 declared in which the vastly experienced David Sales made an unbeaten 155.
There was a wicket apiece for David Payne, Paul Muchall, Graeme McCarter and Ed Young in the Northants innings, while Jack Taylor contributed 58 to Gloucestershire's reply.
In their second innings Northants were bowled out for 160, Young taking 5-47 and Payne 3-32.
That left Gloucestershire chasiug 240 to win and they closed on 172-6, Dan Housego making 50 and Young 35.
The next fixture is a Seond XI Trophy match against Hampshire at Lansdown CC on Monday, which is immediately followed by a three-day Championship fixture against the same opponents at the same venue.
