Haseeb Hameed to make Test debut
8 November 2016
Alastair Cook confirmed that Haseeb Hameed will make his Test debut in Rajkot tomorrow with Ben Duckett dropping down to number four.
Hameed, who became the youngest Lancashire player to score 1,000 runs in a season, will open the batting alongside the captain.
Duckett, who impressed with a swashbucking half-century in Dhaka, will come in at number four with Gary Ballance making way.
"Has is going to open the batting," said Cook, who will lead England for a record 55th time. "Ben will drop down to number four.
"He'll be fine. We've all been hugely impressed with the way he's gone about his business on this tour. He is young but a lot of good people in county cricket say nothing seems to faze him and I don't think [making his debut] will.
"I feel sorry for Gary. I think he's a fine player who will play again for England and do well."
