Hamish Leads From Front In Battling Draw

Hamish Marshall produced a fighting innings of 90 as Gloucestershire comfortably batted out for a draw on the final day of the LV=County Championship match with Derbyshire at Derby.
The visitors responding to following on by extending their overnight score of 219-2 to 409-4, Kane Williamson being dismissed for 128, having started the day on 106.
Marshall was on 32 overnight. By the time he was fourth man out, having faced 200 balls and hit 9 fours, Gloucestershire were 314-4 and well on the way to saving the game.
Just to make sure Ian Cockbain (63 not out) and Will Gidman (33) then carried on the good work with an unbroken stand of 95 to further frustrate the Derbyshire attack before their side declared to end the game.
Williamson faced 272 balls and hit 16 fours in an innings spanning more than five and a half hours. Together he and Marshall added 166 for the third wicket to lay the foundation for s spirited recovery.
Gloucestershire took seven points from the game and Derbyshire ten.
