Gloucestershire to host Community Days in Cheltenham and Bristol this summer
17 July 2023
Gloucestershire Cricket is excited to be once again hosting two community days in Bristol and Cheltenham this summer. The much-loved Community Days represent a chance for members of the community to come together over a shared interest of cricket, and to take part in fun games and activities provided by many local businesses, organisations and charities.
The first Community Day will take place at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival on Tuesday 1st August during Gloucestershire’s One Day Cup match against Derbyshire. The second will take place at our home ground in Bristol, the Seat Unique Stadium, on Tuesday 22nd August during our final One Day Cup group match of the season vs Durham.
Come along to test your football skills with Forest Green Rovers or take part in other fun-filled games with the likes of Gloucester Rugby and Gloucestershire Fire at the Cheltenham Cricket Festival. At the Seat Unique Stadium, we will be joined by organisations such as Empire Fighting Chance, Bristol Rovers, Royal British Legion and Caring In Bristol, for a second day of family fun.
You will also be able to test your reaction time on the reaction wall, test your cricket & football skills with the inflatable bowling cage or learn how to play chess and challenge an international master.
Other opportunities include looking inside some emergency vehicles including a fire engine, ambulance and riot van! In addition, the police will let you meet some of their dogs and horses, and don’t forget there will be some cricket too!
Pete Lamb, Head of Community at Gloucestershire Cricket, said: “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to invite our local community to take part in what will be a fantastic day. It’s going to be wonderful to have everyone together to celebrate the amazing community we are so lucky to be a part of in Gloucestershire.”
Everyone is welcome, whether it be your first cricket match or your 500th, we want you to come and join us to enjoy what will be a day to remember!
