Gloucestershire defeat Glamorgan in opening 50 over match in La Manga

Two centuries by Gloucestershire batsman George Hankins and Ian Cockbain helped the Shire secure the opening victory in the first of three 50 over matches in La Manga.
After Glamorgan won the toss and elected to field first, Gloucestershire's opening batsman George Hankins started where he left off in the 50 over competition by smashing a terrific 114. Ian Cockbain also scored a century and ended up with 119 runs to his name.
Captain Chris Dent, batsman Will Tavare and all-rounder Graeme van Buuren also chipped in with solid scores to help Gloucestershire cruise to 411/7 off the 50 overs.

In reply, the Gloucestershire bowling attack capatalised on a superb start, squeezing Glamorgan to a total of 289 all out. Gloucestershire ended up winning by 121 runs.
Chris Liddle, who was Gloucestershire's leading wicket taker in the Royal London One-Day Cup last season took an impressive three wickets for 34 runs.
Graeme van Buuren and Ryan Higgins both contributed to the bowling attack by taking a pair of wickets each. Gloucestershire spinner Tom Smith took one wicket and two superb run-outs helped Gloucestershire secure the opening victory.
