GCCC Announce Hamish Marshall As Vice Captain

1 March 2012

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is pleased to announce that Hamish Marshall has been appointed Vice Captain for the coming season.

The 33-year-old batsman made his debut for the Club back in 2006 and agreed a new contract during this winter.

During his time with Gloucestershire, Hamish has proved himself an excellent mentor to younger players as well as establishing himself as a first team regular in all forms of cricket.

Last season he and Kevin O’Brien produced a record Twenty20 partnership of 192 against Middlesex at Uxbridge, both scoring centuries.

Hamish said: "I am extremely excited about this opportunity to assist Alex Gidman as a leader in the team and look forward to the start of the season."

Club Captain, Alex Gidman, added: “Hamish’s role won’t change that much because he is already an excellent role model for our young players.

“But I wanted someone to work alongside me and become involved in the selection process. I have not had a Vice Captain since I became skipper and it will be good to have Hamish there in an official role to support me.”
