David Wade suspended under ECB Discipline Code

24 May 2012

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today announced that the Gloucestershire bowler David Wade has received an automatic suspension under the ECB’s discipline code.

During the Second XI Championship match between Gloucestershire and Glamorgan on 24th - 26th May 2012, Wade was reported by Umpires Peter Hartley and Paul Pollard for two Level Two breaches of the code (inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play and throwing the ball at or near a player, umpire or official in an inappropriate and dangerous manner).

The penalty for a first Level Two offence is three points and the penalty for a subsequent Level Two offence within 24 months is six points. Wade has therefore received a total of nine disciplinary points and has received an automatic suspension. Wade is suspended from all cricket under ECB’s jurisdiction for a period from Friday 25th May to Wednesday 30th May inclusive.

These penalty points will remain on his record for a period of two years. Should he accumulate 18 or more penalty points in any two year period a further automatic suspension will be imposed.
