Cowan Ready To Face Leicestershire
10 September 2012
Ed Cowan is available to head Gloucestershire’s batting line-up in the final LV=County Championship game of the season against Leicestershire at Grace Road, starting tomorrow.
The Australia A captain was originally expected to return for only a one-off appearance against Northamptonshire last week, but has agreed to stay on and boost hopes of finishing the campaign with successive victories.
Jack Taylor is added to the team who hammered Northants by 207 runs at the County Ground and the young off-spinner could play if conditions are considered favourable.
Gloucestershire go into the game seventh in Division Two having climbed off the bottom last week and will overtake Northants, who have finished their programme, if they beat Leicestershire.
Skipper Alex Gidman told this website: “It’s important to end the season on a high note and to finish in the best possible position.
“We felt that we had played better cricket than our placing going into the Northants game suggested and it’s important not to let standards slip after an excellent victory.
