COVID-19 vaccinations to take place at Bristol County Ground

Hundreds of doses of the COVID-19 vaccination are being administered at the Bristol County Ground today (Thursday 14 January) by the Gloucester Road Medical Centre (GRMC) staff.
In a truly testing year, there has never been more emphasis on the health and wellbeing of the population, particularly amongst the most vulnerable. With safety regulations such as social distancing in place, medical centres around the country have had to limit the number of staff and patients in their practices.
The Bristol County Ground joins Ashton Gate as a host venue, which is one of seven ‘Super-Vaccination’ centres announced by the government last week. Albeit on a smaller scale, the Bristol County Ground will see patients being administered the vaccine in the Jessop Room located on the ground floor of the Bristol Pavilion.
Bristol County Ground was a venue which hosted flu vaccinations in September and October, seeing over 2,000 people receive the treatment from GRMC nurses with the support of practice staff and reception staff.

“At one of the most testing times we have all faced, Gloucestershire Cricket has been proud to partner with Gloucester Road Medical Centre to offer our facilities for vaccinations to those in our local community.
Following on from last Autumn’s flu jabs, and at a time where the vast majority of our staff are working remotely, it is heartening to see our home and facilities being used to help combat COVID-19.
Members of Gloucestershire’s own staff have volunteered to help assist in the vaccination process on site, and we will continue to do everything we can to help in the weeks and months to come.”
Vaccinations will only be issued to those that have received their NHS vaccination invite and the vaccination centres will be operating strictly by appointment only. Members of the public are asked not to arrive at the centres without prior appointment.
