Cockbain Hits Double Hundred
10 July 2013
Ian Cockbain smashed 224 and Cameron Herring an unbeaten century as Gloucestershire IIs ran up 532-5 on the opening day of the Second XI Championship match with MCC Combined Universities at Cheltenham Cricket Club.
The hosts recovered from 18-2 at one point to produce a run feast, with Cockbain in outstanding form and Herring hitting 184 not out.
There were also rapid contributions from Paul Muchall (54 off 32 balls) and Jack Taylor (40 off 16 balls) and the students were put to the sword.
It was the perfect preparation for Second XI T20 Finals Day at Arundel on Friday. The Gloucestershire squad will be leaving for that event on Thursday evening straight after the scheduled completion of their current fixture.
