Club Closing In On New Captain
17 December 2012
John Bracewell has revealed that Gloucestershire are close to announcing their new captain.
The club have been seeking an overseas signing to succeed Alex Gidman in the role and the Director of Cricket says negotiations are almost concluded.
John told this website: "The player we want has agreed to join us and it is just a matter of sorting out a few final details.
"We have put in a lot of work to secure the guy and I'm very pleased with the outcome. He is a top order batsman, which is what we wanted, and has captaincy experience.
"He is also a quality performer in all three forms of the game and should be available for the whole of the 2013 season.
"It is not easy to get hold of overseas players who fit into those brackets, so I couldn't be happier."
Keep an eye on this website for the first official announcement of the new skipper.
