Bracey and Dawson travel to Mumbai for England and Lions specialist camp

28 November 2019

James Bracey and Richard Dawson have joined prospective England batsmen and spin bowlers on a three-week specialist training camp in Mumbai organised by the ECB.

Bracey will be working with Surrey Assistant Coach Vikram Solanki alongside Will Jacks, Dan Lawrence, Keaton Jennings and Sam Hain as part of Individualised Programmes with the aim of enhancing their skills in different conditions.

ECB Performance Director Mo Bobat said:

"The Individualised Programmes are a great opportunity for some of our best young cricketers to focus on specific areas of their game in unfamiliar and challenging conditions around the world.

Some of the players involved are in England's immediate plans, while others will be working on areas that will benefit the national team's medium and long-term needs."

Bracey will also benefit from working with Somerset Fielding Coach Paul Tweddle, specifically on his wicketkeeping.

Each player taking part in this camp will receive a tailor-made program that will serve to improve their cricketing skills in areas unique to them.

Gloucestershire Head Coach Richard Dawson has also made the trip to Mumbai as the specialist spin coach to Dom Bess, Mason Crane and Amar Virdi. Richard will be working alongside former Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath.

Dawson shared his excitement for both Bracey and the other players involved:

“This is a terrific opportunity for a number of talented young English players to work on their game and develop their skills.

I am looking forward to working with Vikram Solanki and hopefully together we can provide the spinners with a valuable experience that will aid their developments as cricketers.

It’s an exciting time for James who is someone I believe could have a bright future in the English setup. The fact he is here in Mumbai shows how highly the ECB think of him as a batsman and wicketkeeper.”

The trip to Mumbai concludes on December 17 ahead of England’s ICC World Test Championship against South Africa match commencing on December 26.
