Beth Mooney signs for Welsh Fire

11 March 2020

T20 World Cup player of the tournament, leading run scorer and newly crowned ICC Women’s T20 International number one ranked batter, Beth Mooney, will be reunited with her Australian team-mates Jess Jonassen and Meg Lanning at Welsh Fire.

Ashleigh Gardner is the second overseas player confirmed for Birmingham Phoenix, joining New Zealand’s Sophie Devine, while fellow Australian all-rounder Nicola Carey links up with compatriot Alyssa Healy at Northern Superchargers.

South African star Marizanne Kapp will be heading to South London to join Oval Invincibles, alongside international teammate Dane van Niekerk and Australian vice-captain Rachael Haynes.

Fellow Proteas international Chloe Tryon adds more batting power to a London Spirit side that already features England women’s captain Heather Knight and hard-hitting West Indian all-rounder, Deandra Dottin.

Beth Mooney said:

“I’m really excited to take part in the first season of The Hundred. It looks likes it is developing into a high quality, world class competition.

As Head Coach, Matthew Mott is building a really strong side at Welsh Fire and I can’t wait to get out there with my new teammates.”
