Benny Howell commits his future to Gloucestershire Cricket

Benny Howell has committed his future to Gloucestershire County Cricket Club by signing an extended contract until the end of the 2015 season.

The 25-year-old all-rounder was a first team regular in all forms for cricket during the 2013 season, playing in all 16 LV=County Championship games, 12 Yorkshire Bank 40 fixtures and ten Friends Life t20 fixtures.

He averaged 31 with the bat in the Championship and took 28 wickets with his medium paced bowling, while also scoring 340 runs at an average of 28.3 and claiming 20 victims in one-day cricket.

Benny said: "I’m pleased to have signed an extension to my contract. It looks to be a promising two years ahead.

"With Michael Klinger back captaining again next season, we have a strong squad in all forms of the game and I look forward to helping to bring some trophies to the Club."

Will Brown, Gloucestershire Cricket's Chief Executive added: "We’re delighted to agree an extension to Benny’s contract; he’s an entertaining, committed and integral member of the team both on and off the field and his development and on-going success is key to the team's future performances."

Born in Bordeaux, but educated in Berkshire, Benny joined Gloucestershire from Hampshire at the start of the 2012 season, signing a two-year contract after a successful trial spell with the club.

His first season with Gloucestershire saw him make 13 County Championship appearances and average 35.75 in List A games.
