Batty is Batting for Charity
28 June 2012
Gloucestershire County cricketer Jonathan Batty today joins a host of high profile cricketers in a new charity initiative ‘Batting for Charity’, organised by County Championship sponsors LV=.
The initiative will see Batty display an LV= sticker on each of his bats for the remainder of the cricket season and in return, LV= will donate £250 to Shooting Stat CHASE and The Ben Hollioake Fund, as nominated by Batty.
The money donated will go directly to The Ben Hollioake Fund, a charity the Gloucestershire batsman has been a supporter of for a number of years. The fund was set up after the death of former England and Surrey cricketer Ben Hollioake in 2002. The fund is part of the CHASE Hospice which supports life limited children and their families. The Ben Hollioake fund hopes to set up a centre in London and expand the support the charity offers.
Gemma Wright from Shooting Star CHASE commented: "We are very grateful for the donation from LV= it will make a real difference to the work that we do. To have Jonathan championing our cause on the cricket field is just brilliant and everyone involved with The Ben Hollioake Fund will be cheering Jonathan on for the rest of the season."
Jonathan Batty added: “I am very pleased to be able to support Shooting Star CHASE and The Ben Hollioake Fund this season. It is an incredibly worthy cause; the support and help the charity offers people is second to none, so if my donation can contribute to the work they perform it’s the least I can do.”
Batty joins a host of LV= County Championship cricketers, such as Surrey’s Mark Ramprakash and Lancashire’s Stephen Moore, taking part in LV=’s charity initiative.
Claire Jeromson, LV= Head of Sponsorship added: “It’s great to be working alongside the County Championship cricketers such as Jonathan to help them support the charities close to their hearts. We wanted to do something a little bit different and hope that the donations made will make a difference to the great work these charities do.”
