Batsman of the Season – Chris Dent
4 November 2020
Gloucestershire’s coaching staff have selected Club Captain Chris Dent as 2020 Moreton C Cullimore Cup for Batsman of the Season after another successful campaign at the top of the order.
He got off to a flying start in the Bob Willis Trophy, scoring an impressive 92 runs in his first innings back after the interrupted start to the 2020 season. In the second innings, he would go on to score another half-century.
In the Vitality Blast, Dent was on fire opening up the batting with Miles Hammond. He was playing in the format for the first time since the 2016 season. His performances in the competition certainly answered any doubts and Dent went on to showcase just how good and versatile he has at the top of the order for Gloucestershire.
He went on to score a total of 371 runs in the T20 competition, only 28 runs short of Ian Cockbain. Dent averaged 33.72 with an impressive strike rate of 153.30. He hit the most fours for the Club in the Vitality Blast with a staggering 48 to his name, this was 17 more fours than second place Cockbain. Dent has certainly solidified his position at the top of the T20 batting order for Gloucestershire as we look to reach Finals Day once again for the 2021 season.
Dent finished top of the packing order for total runs scored across the Bob Willis Trophy and Vitality Blast with 541 runs.
Chris Dent is sponsored by Walker Logistics Limited.
