All-rounder Ollie Price signs contract extension at Gloucestershire
16 March 2023
Batting all-rounder Ollie Price has signed a two-year contract extension at Gloucestershire until the end of the 2025 season.
The 21-year-old has committed his future to the Club having put in a number of impressive performances for the Gloucestershire first-team last season. In List A cricket in 2022, Price scored the fourth most runs for The Shire with 213 from eight outings at a strike rate of 92.00. His best performance came against Surrey at the Oval in the One Day Cup, where he scored 45 runs and took two wickets as Glos defeated the hosts by two wickets.
In first-class cricket last season, Price scored almost 400 runs in eight appearances and most notably, scored two consecutive 50s during Gloucestershire’s rain-affected draw with Somerset in September. He followed that performance up two matches later with an impressive 68 vs Yorkshire as Gloucestershire secured their second win in two matches at the end of the season.
Speaking of his joy at signing an extension at Gloucestershire, Price said:
'I'm delighted to be staying in Bristol for the next few years and am so excited for the summers to come. I absolutely love playing for Glos, the Club has supported me so much and I'm very proud to represent Gloucestershire.
“I'm really excited for what the future holds; we've got a great squad and coaching set-up, and I feel privileged to be a part of this great Club. I can't wait to make more contributions in a Glos shirt in the years to come and I’m excited to see what we can achieve as a team.”
A product of the Gloucestershire Cricket Academy, Ollie Price is the younger brother and teammate of Tom Price and has been in the ranks at Gloucestershire since 2016.
Dale Benkenstein, Head Coach at Gloucestershire Cricket, said:
“Ollie is one of our young players that we really value and we’ve seen some real potential in his knocks with the bat.
“His off-spin and fielding add two more strings to his bow and he’s someone that we are looking to develop over the next few years to become a regular in all formats.
“Delighted to have Ollie on board and we’re excited to see his progress over the next few years.”
Price could feature in Gloucestershire’s first County Championship game of the season away to Glamorgan on Thursday 6 April.
Ollie Price is currently available to sponsor.
